Hi, My name’s Abygail, I’m 23, I live in the UK, and I have a passion for plant-based food and nutrition.
I have a huge passion for all things food related, and most importantly, nutritious wholesome and healthy food, focusing on giving you a healthy balanced lifestyle. I wanted to create a blog where I could share my passion, creations, experiences and little bits of knowledge I’ve learnt along the way with lovely like-minded people.
I have always been a fussy eater for as long as I can remember, and as a child my Mother would find it very difficult to feed me as I wouldn’t touch meat or vegetables and would only eat cheese pizza and cheese pasta! When I think back to these days it’s total madness; eating pizza for Christmas dinner – Yup that was me! Those days are in the past and are very different from what I prepare and eat now. Please, don’t get me wrong, I have cheat days like everyone does, but if you live by the 80:20 ratio of heathy vs not-so healthy then you have nothing to worry about and your body will thank you for it, I promise!
Eventually, after years of eating a high-carb and high-fat diet, I became bored and tried to do something about it and force myself to eat better and try different things; which has taken it’s time but thankfully, I have succeeded and I love trying and creating new things.
I believe it all began when my younger Sister decided to turn Vegetarian; I was about 16 years old at the time and thought this is now time for me to start eating a better diet (and perhaps, to grow up!). So, I also decided to follow a strict vegetarian diet, whereas, previously I never ate meat but I would still eat products that contain gelatin and meat flavorings etc. I am so pleased I chose to change the way I ate and achieve a healthier lifestyle.
So, after I had sorted my food habits; I also decided to really get into my fitness (I was a couch potato), so I went to the gym daily, started to do a bit of running and cycling and got obsessed with exercise and losing weight (which I now know wasn’t healthy), so I also decided to educate myself by doing an online Nutrition Course which helped me so much to understand the body and how the foods we eat impact our health.
So, due to this I cut out processed foods and educated and taught myself how to cook on a plant-based wholefoods diet, and what I should be eating to fulfil a healthy happy life and I am now the happiest I have been in a long time with the support and love that I have around me.
On my blog, I will share with you my experiences, knowledge and the creations I have made, which are:
1. Simple and Easy
3. Using High-Quality ingredients (Organic where possible)
4. Healthy and Nutritious
5. Easy to prepare
6. Vegan based
As part of my journey, and since starting up my blog, I now follow a totally Vegan lifestyle (so you may still find some Vegetarian recipes back in the archives). Wherever possible I use fresh produce, Organic ingredients, wholegrains and ‘superfoods’. I believe in a healthy balanced lifestyle of exercise, healthy nutritious home-cooked foods and treats in moderation, but as well as this comes preparation, organisation and dedication to reaching your end goal.
On my blog, you will find an array of breakfast recipes, snack/ideal workout recipes, main meals and main meals requiring 30-minutes or less, dips/spreads/sides and dessert recipes.
All of my recipes are:
1. Refined Sugar-Free (I predominately use maple syrup or coconut sugar)
2. Refined Flour-Free (I predominately use Oat flour, Spelt flour and Wholemeal flour)
3. Many recipes can be Gluten-free
4. Dairy-Free and Plant-Based
5. Saturated Fat-Free (instead using coconut oil, avocado, nut butters)
I hope you all enjoy my blog and I would love it so much if you try any of my recipes, please let me know by leaving your comments, sharing your pictures and like me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest 🙂 xo
