Hi, My name’s Abygail, I’m 23, I live in the UK, and I have a passion for food and nutrition.
I have a huge passion for all things healthy food, cooking and nutrition. I wanted to create a website and blog where I could share my passion (
some might say obsession) with others and a place for me to write about my hobby and little bits of knowledge I’ve learnt along the way.
I have always been a fussy eater for as long as I can remember, and as a child my mother would find it very difficult to feed me as I wouldn’t touch meat or vegetables and would only eat cheese pizza and cheese pasta! When I think back to these days its like madness, eating pizza for Christmas dinner! That is now very different from what I would consider eating or preparing for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I have cheat days where all I want is a cheese pizza but if I have the time and ingredients I will make my own from scratch instead which still satisfies the cravings without feeling terrible afterwards and life is all about a healthy balance!
Eventually, after years of eating a rather high-carb and high-fat diet, I became bored and tried to do something about it and force myself to eat better and try different things. I believe it all began when my younger sister decided to turn vegetarian, I was about 16 years old and thought this is now time for me to start eating a better diet. I also decided to follow a strict vegetarian diet, whereas, previously I never ate meat but I would still eat products with gelatine etc. in them. I have never looked back from this moment and I am so glad and happy I chose to change the way I ate.
A few years later I also decided to really get into my fitness, went to the gym daily, started a bit of running and cycling and got obsessed with exercise and losing weight, which I now know wasn’t healthy but I also educated myself by doing an online nutrition course which helped me so much to understand the body and how the foods we eat impact our health but I know I still have a lot of learning to do but I’m hoping this will be my next step! I cut out processed foods and educated myself on a vegetarian (more recently, Vegan) wholefoods and plant-based diet and I am now the happiest I have been in a long time with the support and love that I have around me.
I want to use this website as a space for me to share the meals I enjoy eating and cooking which are:
- Nutritious and Un-processed
- Easy to prepare
- Vegan based
As part of my journey, and since starting up my blog, I now follow a totally Vegan lifestyle, so you may still find some non-Vegan recipes back in the archives. Wherever possible I try to use fresh produce and consume whole grains and carbohydrates in a complex form such as whole-wheat. I don’t believe in all these various diets out there but instead believe on a healthy balanced lifestyle of exercise, healthy home-cooked foods and treats in moderation, but as well as this comes preparation, organisation and dedication to reaching your end goal.
I have a huge sweet tooth so a lot of my cooking focuses on breakfast and deserts that are refined sugar free, refined flour-free, dairy-free and use healthier fats such as coconut oil or even avocados. However, this year, I have decided I also want to equally focus on creating and cooking healthy meals for lunch and dinner that I can share with my friends and family. My favourite ingredients are peanut butter, coconut oil, almond milk, cocoa powder, oatmeal, dates, dark chocolate, flaxmeal and sweet potato!
