I'm Abygail and I bake all the treats you see here at Untainted Tastes, alongside my partner Ryan who helps with all things technical, deliveries and keeping me calm when things get a bit hectic! 

We are a very small business based in our home kitchen in Kent. We are both Vegan and therefore our kitchen is fully Vegan.

It all started as a passion for healthy eating and cooking grew after studying a Nutrition course approx. 7 years ago. I had been a strict Vegetarian since the age of about 16 (never eating meat prior to this but I never knew about things like gelatine in my childhood) and then after gradually removing dairy from my diet I became Vegan in 2017/2018 (I cannot remember now!) and Ryan joined me in December/January 2020 and we won't look back ever!

A love for cooking, grew into creating Untainted Tastes in 2017 as a recipe blog website which then in 2019 turned into this little business. We did our first fayre in May 2019 and many more came after that until a halt after our last event at Brighton Vegan Festival in Feb 2020 but we hope to resume after all this craziness!

When you support us at Untainted Tastes, you are supporting a huge passion, not only for cooking but for a cruelty-free, Vegan world with animals at the focus of everything we do, as well as supporting the environment the best we can.

We truly believe, anything you can do, can be done without the need for animals, without the cruelty and in a Vegan friendly way.

I have spent many years testing, testing and testing again our bakes until I am happy with them. I use the best quality ingredients including real Belgian Chocolate, Organic White Chocolate Alternative and Organic Cacoa Powder which I truly believe are the best out there and contribute to a delicious bake.

We are also striving to be as eco-friendly as possible so all our packaging is recyclable/biodegradable/compostable and whilst in the kitchen I continue this eco-friendly mentality by recycling wherever possible (I save all our packaging to recycle at the supermarket), buying in bulk (often in 15kg bags which saves on packaging) and we use reusable items such as silicone mats and resuable piping bags.

A little bit about me

Believe it or not (considering the products I now make and love), but when my journey began I ruled out a lot of foods from my diet for health reasons (or so I thought, which lead to becoming unhealthily thin) which included unhealthy saturated fatty foods, processed and package foods and foods such as Pasta and Bread because of their low nutritional value. Through my journey I gradually added these foods back in because life is all about moderation and balance and I now know that isn’t necessary.

After educating myself through various studies and documentaries (most of which you can find on Netflix) I made the decision to go Vegan and I have and never will look back. Since being Vegan I have learnt so much about Food, our Planet, our Animals and the health benefits of not eating Animal Products.

I have a real sweet tooth and I actually love everything we make and anything we don't sell, gets eaten by us!

Our Baked Products:

The Baked Treats you will find in our Shop are Free-From Dairy, Eggs, Cruelty and are 100% Vegan Friendly.

Our Baked Treats are homemade, fresh and made to order in our premises so please allow 3-5 days for dispatch of your treats which will then be sent to you via Royal Mail 1st Class delivery as standard or choose Next Day Delivery for extra (3-5 dispatch still stands the delivery is just quicker).

Our Products are ever-changing so keep an eye out on the Website and our Social Media pages @ Instagram and Facebook . 

As our Baked Treats are freshly made they naturally have a shorter shelf life and are generally best stored in the fridge for up to 7-10 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months to be thawed fully before consuming. We will eneavour to let you know the recommended shelf life when you receive your treats via a little recyclable information card.

As well as our Postal Treats we can also make things such as Cupcakes, Celebration Cakes, Afternoon Tea, Cheesecakes etc. for our local customers.


Why Vegan?

There are many reasons why committing to a Vegan diet is the way forward. People are Vegan for their own reasons, for example and to name a few; for health reasons, for environmental reasons and to save the lives of animals; personally I am Vegan for all 3 reasons.

There are a number of studies, articles and documentaries (What The Health, Cowspiracy, Forks Over Knives, Vegucated) which will tell you all the facts and figures relating to Veganism, and these are one of the main reasons I am Vegan and why so many people are following the same conscious lifestyle.

A few environmental facts:

  • A Vegan diet carbon footprint is 60% lower than a meat-based diet.
  • 70% of the Amazon Rainforest is used for animal grazing, which will then be used for meat, and therefore deforestation takes place to house these animals.
  • Animal farming is responsible for more Greenhouse Gas emissions than all motorist transport on Earth.
  • Twice the amount of water is needed to produce 1 litre of Cows Milk than Soy Milk.
  • You can make 6 Vegan Burgers for the amount of Water needed for 1 Beef Burger.

A few health facts:

  • Vegan’s suffer lower rates of certain common cancers.
  • Plant-based foods tend to be naturally low in Saturated-fats and contain no-cholesterol.
  • Large quantities of Antibiotics are given to animals – more so than sick people.
  • High blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, is less common among vegans.
  • Body mass index and cholesterol levels are lower among vegans.

A few facts about the animals:

  • Dairy cows have been modified to produce up to 10 times more milk than they would naturally.
  • Male calves are of no use to the dairy industry and generally less suitable for beef production. This means that every year around 90,000 male dairy calves are shot soon after birth and discarded as a by-product.
  • Every year in the UK we slaughter around 950 million birds for food consumption, including chickens, ducks and turkeys.
  • 90% of chicken production in the UK is in intensive windowless sheds which house 20,000-50,000 chickens each.
  • Only 3% of UK pigs spend their entire lives outdoors.
  • 1/3 of pigs in the UK are killed in gas chambers.
  • We kill between 1 and 2.8 trillion fish every year. This is 143-400x the amount of the entire human population.
  • Farmed salmon has 10x the amount of cancer-causing organic pollutants than wild salmon.
